Why are people grieving for Micheal Jackson?

It's not Michael Jackson the person everybody's mourning. It's Michael Jackson the icon of a decade. People are remembering him as an innocent child singer and as he was when he first became popular, when he was known for his music and dancing. They're grieving the Michael from 30 years ago, not the guy who died yesterday.
